Were the X-MEN creators watching BATTLESTAR GALACTICA in 1978?

There is a very famous sequence in Marvel's The Uncanny X-Men #146 (April 1981) where the super-villain Arcade brashly lights a match using Dr. Doom's armor to ignite the flame.  Is it worth mentioning that Lt. Starbuck (Dirk Benedict) did the same thing - three years earlier?  In the Battlestar Galactica episode ("Lost Planet of the Gods", Part 2), Starbuck lights a match using a Cylon's armor to ignite the flame.

A Viper squadron - Battlestar Galactica

Aside from the Galactica, the most well-known ship in the Battlestar Galactica universe is the Viper.  This sleek one-man attack craft was seen in every episode of the short-lived series.  However, it's interesting to note that in the series blockbuster pilot movie "Saga of a Star World" - which took 50 days to film and many months of pre-production planning - nowhere in the movie is the name "Viper" mentioned!  Several times throughout the movie, the ships are referred to as either "fighters" or "fighter planes" - NOT Vipers!  The ships are not called Vipers until the second episode, "Lost Planet of the Gods".  The first four (captioned) photos below are from "Saga of a Star World" and the last photo is from "Lost Planet of the Gods", Part 1.

Decorating Tips from Apollo and Starbuck

There are roughly 15 minutes of Deleted / Expanded scenes that were filmed for the 2-part Battlestar Galactica story "Lost Planet of the Gods" - written by Glen A. Larson and Donald P. Bellisario; directed by Christian I. Nyby II.  These scenes are part of the Bonus Features of the BSG DVD and Blu-Ray releases.  Some of these scenes include (1) Serina piloting a shuttle into the Galactica landing bay - her first solo flight (2) Adama and Tigh ruminating on the nature of the Void (3) Adama's eloquent speech about the fall of Kobol (4) a longer version of Serina's death scene - all of these scenes are vastly superior to a truly bizarre scene at the beginning of Part 2 where Apollo and Starbuck inexplicably "fem it up" and swap decorating tips.  I'm not making this up - read on - this has my vote as the most excruciating scene of the entire series!:
