Today is the 38th Anniversary of the premiere of Battlestar Galactica on ABC-TV. The series launched with the epic 3-hour pilot film "Saga of a Star World" on Sunday, September 17, 1978. An estimated 66 million Americans watched the premiere movie, making it the highest-rated sci-fi episode of all time - a ratings record that still holds today! TRIVIA: ABC-TV aired "Saga of a Star World" only once - it was never rerun on the network (Why?).
Check out this fantastic YouTube video (LINK ABOVE!) compiling many of the ABC-TV promos leading up to the premiere. These promos feature bits and pieces of alternate dialogue ("Right here, you creepy crawlies!"), a close-up view of the Imperious Leader and several alternate sound effects.
